The Route 66 Centennial opened the door for winning two grants for the Stroud Public Library. One comes for historic preservation and neon sign and one for programming. Stroud is the first Oklahoma library to receive a Route 66 grant.
One will address some structural issues and provide for an elegant art deco style neon sign, and the other grant will provide funding for a special centennial program for traveling families, "ROUTE 66 FAMILY ADVENTURE HUB." This will include some funding for temp staff and added open hours. As a result, exciting programs have been planned for the year.
In addition, the library is partnering with the Route 66 Spirit of America Museum (Stroud) to host some special programs for youth related to the museum's values. These include innovation, hope, dreams and imagination, and peace.
Watch for announcements for these exciting programs for children, youth, and families.
